I found this video long before I ever imagined I would convert. It’s just a simple visual presentation of the beauty of Orthodoxy in America — slow, reflective music, rural scenery, images from churches and monasteries. Nothing dramatic. But every time I watched it, something in me stirred.
It wasn’t the scenery, though that was beautiful. It wasn’t even the music, though it carried a quiet ache. It was the people. Ordinary people, simply engaged in their faith. Children prostrating. Someone lighting a candle. A priest serving in the altar. A woman kneeling in prayer, making the sign of the cross. The peace, reverence, humility, and sincerity of it all filled me with an incredible longing. Even now, it can still bring tears to my eyes.
To me, there seems to be a spirit of purity and truth in Orthodox worship. This video offers a glimpse of that — a sense of true worship, a sense of “this is right,” a sense of home.
I’ve returned to it many times. Not to analyze, but to absorb. To simply experience the beauty. I hope you find it as beautiful as I did.
